Ukrainian Police Find Torture Chambers in Kherson After Russians Leave
Ukrainian police have found torture chambers and graves in the city of Kherson after the departure of the Russian soldiers.
According to Interior Minister Denis Monastirski, 11 sites were found where Russians held people captive; four people were allegedly tortured.
Police are now investigating the locations. For example, witnesses are questioned, and corpses are examined. The minister says 63 bodies were found in the Kherson region after the Russian departure. “We know the search has only just begun, and more torture chambers and tombs may be found.”
Similar torture chambers have also been found in other areas where the Russian soldiers were expelled, such as Kharkiv. However, there is no independent confirmation of the existence of the torture chambers.
The Ukrainian army took over Kherson from the Russians in early November. Mines have been left behind by the Russian army in large parts of the city.
