Apple Will Unveil iPhone 12 and Possibly HomePod Mini Tonight

Tech giant Apple presents its latest smartphones on Tuesday evening. The unveiling of the iPhone 12, in various versions, is scheduled for today, during a Livestream on Apple.com.

Initially, the new iPhones were to be unveiled in September, but the corona crisis put a stop to that.

It would be an iPhone 12 Mini with a 5.4-inch screen, an iPhone 12 with a 6.1-inch display, and two Pro variants of 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch (including more powerful cameras and optical zoom lenses).

The theme of the presentation, Hi-Speed, makes it seem that Apple has mainly focused this time on improving the performance of the devices.

Supposed specs are an A14 chip, 5G on most (if not all) models, and OLED screens across the board. There is also mention of a ‘magnetic’ charger, which may be comparable to the MagSafe technology found on some Apple notebooks.

Insiders expect pre-ordering will be possible from Friday, October 16, and that the first devices will be shipped on October 23. On the Pro version, according to the rumour mill, it will probably take some more patience, until the beginning of November.

The HomePod Mini may also be unveiled at tonight’s event, MacRumors reports. The smaller version of the smart HomePod speaker would be priced at $ 99 in the US. It is not yet known whether the gadget will also come to our country.

Furthermore, an update of the Apple TV set-top box is almost certainly in the pipeline at Apple, but the chance that that device will also see the light of day tonight is relatively small.
