More Than 51,000 Coronavirus Patients have Since Recovered

More than half of the people infected with the coronavirus have since recovered. This is according to figures from Johns Hopkins University, which closely monitors the number of patients.

Of the 94,250 infections worldwide, 51,026 people have recovered.

The most significant number of recovered patients (more than 38,500 people) comes from the worst affected Chinese province of Hubei, where the virus was first killed in December, mainly in the capital of Wuhan. Moreover, it seems that the distribution there has been slowed down.

Yesterday, China reported 119 new cases of corona patients, the lowest number in six weeks, since the government started providing information on January 21.

Of those 119, 115 were in Hubei province. Also, 62 percent of people who have been confirmed to have corona is now recovering, and out of the hospital, the National Health Commission says today.

Of the 94,250 people who had the coronavirus worldwide, 3.4 percent have died so far, according to the World Health Organization.

It concerns more than 3200 deaths, of which almost 2900 in the Chinese province of Hubei, where the city of Wuhan is located.

The actual death rate may be lower if people with mild symptoms do not report and therefore remain out of the picture. The elderly and people with convinced chronic diseases are the most vulnerable.
