Biden Gives First Press Conference of 2022 After Year in Office
US President Joe Biden will give his first press conference of the year 2022 on Wednesday at 10 p.m. Dutch time. It has been a year since he came to power after elections, still controversial by the opposition.
Biden has said he wants to take the opportunity to speak directly to the people. The former Democratic vice president was sworn in as president on January 20, 2021.
The first year of his presidency was overshadowed by the corona crisis, the chaotic retreat from Afghanistan and the sharp rise in prices and the number of crimes committed. In most polls, voters seem to view his first year as a disaster. They seem particularly frustrated with economic policy.
The president, who is 79 years old and spends a lot of time in his villa in the state of Delaware, must quickly restore confidence to maintain a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives (Congress) in about ten months in the midterm elections.
On November 8, the Americans will elect the House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 members of the Senate. There will also be nearly 40 local or regional elections.
