President Mexico Does Not Want to Compare the Death Toll to Other Countries
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador finds a comparison of the number of corona deaths in his country with that of France and Spain inappropriate.
Mexico has 30,639 deaths so far and 256,848 infections registered.
On Wednesday, the country of Spain passed on the list of countries with the most corona deaths and on Saturday it took fifth place from France.
“The population of Spain and France is smaller than that of Mexico,” Lopez Obrador said in a video on YouTube.
“For every death in our country, three people have died in Spain. We cannot compare this,” said the president who criticized news media who do make the comparison.
Mexico has 127 million inhabitants, Spain 47 million and France 67 million.
