French Death Toll from Coronavirus Passes 1000

France is the fifth country to have more than 1,000 coronavirus deaths. The death toll has increased by 240 to 1100 in the past 24 hours, reports Jérôme Salomon, the country’s top health official.

Salomon told reporters that 22,300 people are registered as infected. A total of 10,176 patients were hospitalized, 2,516 of whom were in intensive care.

Salomon emphasized that 1100 dead were people who died in the hospital.

The deaths in older people’s homes have not been included. Those numbers will come the next day, he assured.
