Chinese President Xi Abroad for the First Time Since Corona

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, China’s state news agency Xinhua reported. It is his first foreign trip since the outbreak of the corona pandemic.

Xi meets with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders signed several agreements between China and Kazakhstan.

The Chinese president is making a three-day trip to Central Asia. He will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Uzbekistan on Thursday. There they will discuss, among other things, the situation in Ukraine and Taiwan.

Russian and Chinese leaders will meet face-to-face for the first time since Russian forces invaded neighbouring Ukraine.
