Kremlin Critic Navalny: Mobilization Leads to Massive Tragedy
Russian activist Alexei Navalny thinks the partial mobilization of the Russian army will lead to “an enormous tragedy”.
In a video message published Wednesday, he denounced President Vladimir Putin’s decision to call in additional soldiers.
The Kremlin critic thinks Putin puts many people to death for his own gain. “To maintain his own power, Putin has invaded a neighbouring country; he is killing the people there, and now he is sending so many Russian citizens that way.”
The partial mobilization calls up 300,000 reservists to fight in the war in Ukraine. According to Navalny, Putin wants to involve as many people as possible in the war so that “blood is on hundreds of thousands of hands”.
Navalny is serving a prison sentence of 11.5 years in a penal camp. He communicates with the outside world through his lawyers. The prominent activist has criticized the invasion of Ukraine from the outset.
