Mexico is the Fourth Country to Report More Than 150,000 Corona Deaths

Mexico is the fourth country in the world to report more than 150,000 deaths from the coronavirus. Only in India, Brazil, and the United States has the death toll been higher so far.

 

Mexico is now ordering millions of doses of a Russian corona vaccine.

In Mexico, with nearly 130 million inhabitants, many hospitals are full and prominent citizens have also contracted the virus.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (67) announced last Sunday that he has tested positive. The richest Mexican, 80-year-old telecom magnate Carlos Slim Helu, was also recently infected.

Mexico started vaccinating people last month with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, which is also used in the US and the EU.

President Obrador said Monday after a phone call with his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin that his country is also purchasing 24 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. That still has to be approved by the Mexican regulator.
