Mouth Masks are Now Mandatory in Busy Areas in Paris

In Paris and the surrounding area, people have to wear a mouth mask from Monday at 08:00 in some busy regions in the fight against the coronavirus.

This was already necessary for public transport, museums and supermarkets, from now on everyone has to wear a mask in shopping streets, queues for government buildings or tourist attractions, but also on the busy banks of the Seine, in parks and open-air markets.

The obligation applies for at least one month. Everything indicates that the virus is circulating more actively in the region again. Children under the age of eleven do not need to wear the mouth mask.

Mouth masks must also be worn in places in the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, Val-de-Marne and Val-d’Oise.

Other French cities had already preceded Paris to make face masks mandatory in busy places in the open air. Offenders can be fined 135 euros, persistent repeat offenders, even a prison sentence.
