NTT Communications Hacked

A hack at NTT Communications has left information of nearly 18,000 corporate customers leaked.

NTT’s website reports in Japanese that it discovered on February 5 that someone had unauthorised access to NTT systems. The hack occurred, but it is not known when.

Specifically, the Order Distribution System was hacked, which contained details of 17,892 customers. However, this only involved company information, such as the company name, contract number, contact details, and the extent to which they purchased a service, so no personal information was leaked.

NTT later discovered that the attacker(s) had moved to another device in the network that was also shut down. The company believes that the threat from the hack has now been eliminated.

NTT will not email customers further information, but affected customers will be contacted by their sales representative. It is currently unclear whether it only concerns Japanese customers or whether international customers are also among the victims.
