Pedro Sánchez Presented His Cabinet With A Plan for Return to A New Normal

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday presented his cabinet with a plan for a gradual return to a “new normal”.

More than six weeks after the start of a strict lockdown due to the corona pandemic, the easing will take place in several stages and asymmetrically.

According to media reports, the rules across the country are likely to be the same. However, they can be delayed in different regions depending on how severely affected a neighbourhood is.

The head of the socialist government is likely to provide more details later in the afternoon. It is already known that from May 2 the nearly 47 million Spaniards will probably be allowed to walk outside with their housemates. Outdoor sports should be allowed again.

Since mid-March, Spaniards have only been allowed to leave the house in exceptional cases, for example, to drive to work, to walk the dog or to do their shopping.

The first relaxation already took place on Sunday: since that day, children up to 14 years old – albeit with limitations and only one hour a day – have been allowed to take to the streets again.

The numbers give hope: for the fifth day in a row, more healed people were registered than new infections.
