Police: Multiple Dead After Car Crashes into US Christmas Parade

A car crashed into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Sunday. According to the police, “several deaths” were reported. More than 20 people were hit by the car.

 

Police are not yet able to say exactly how many people have died from their injuries. Eleven adults and 12 children have been taken to hospital, according to the fire service.

It is not yet clear whether it is a terrorist act, according to the police. The suspected driver of the car has been arrested and is in custody. The investigation into the cause of the incident is still in a start-up phase.

A video posted to social media shows a red SUV driving into the parade from behind. In a second video, the police appear to open fire on the same car as it breaks through the roadblock. A police spokesman confirmed that an officer shot at the car.

No bystanders were reported to have been injured. According to the police, no shots were fired from the car itself.
