A rare edition of Action Comics # 1 has sold for a record $ 3.25 million, The Hollywood Reporter reports. In this 1938 comic book, the world was first introduced to the hero Superman.
The comic, according to Vincent Zurzolo, who brokered the sale, can be seen as “the beginning of the superhero genre” in the comic world.
According to him, hundreds of thousands of copies of the comic were initially released. Today there are about a hundred left, but not all of them are in the best condition. This version is one of the best-preserved, Zurzolo says.
The comic’s previous owner bought this version in 2018 for just over $ 2 million. In 2014, another version of the same comic book went up for auction for just over $ 3.2 million, a record at the time.
