Russia Shifts Ultimatum to Twitter by One Month

Russia has pushed back the ultimatum to the social medium Twitter to remove banned material by one month.

Twitter now has until mid-May to remove cases that Russian law holds unsuitable for publication.

Russian authorities are outraged on Twitter for messages about child pornography, drug use and calls to young people to commit suicide.

Russian regulator Roskomnadzor deliberately slowed down Twitter in mid-March, demanding that the illegal reports be promptly removed. Otherwise, Twitter would be shut down entirely in Russia in mid-April.

According to Roskomnadzor, 2000 messages have already been deleted, and Twitter is doing its best to remove the controversial reports and is given more time to do so.
