Five Suspects Rob US Congressman Arrested

Five people suspected of robbing US Democratic Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon in broad daylight have been arrested. The suspects were arrested in Scanlon’s car.

They also took her work phone and ID with them.

The police previously announced that it was two robbers who held Scanlon at gunpoint. The 62-year-old congressman was walking toward her car in a park when she was ambushed.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney called the robbery, which happened at 2:45 p.m. local time, “terrible.” He is “infuriated” that criminals commit such a reckless crime in broad daylight in a park, which he believes “should be a place of tranquillity and peace”.

Since the victim is a congressman, the FBI is also involved in the investigation.
