US Calls Attempted Suspension of Somali Prime Minister Alarming
The United States has called the attempt to suspend Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble “alarming” and supports Roble’s call for early and fair elections.
On Monday, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed tried to suspend the prime minister on suspicion of corruption.
The prime minister called that an attempted coup. The incident is seen as an escalation in the power struggle between the two.
On Monday, the US State Department’s African Affairs Office also tweeted that the US is “ready to act against those who obstruct Somalia’s path to peace”.
