Biden Already Orders Pfizer Corona Pill for 10 Million Americans

The US government has already ordered enough corona pills to treat 10 million Americans, although the drug from the American manufacturer Pfizer is still under development.

 

President Joe Biden called the “promising data” released by Pfizer encouraging.

Pfizer’s antiviral pill is effective in reducing the risk of serious illness in people infected with Covid-19, Biden said. He calls the pill a potentially powerful tool “in our fight” against the virus, including the Omikron variant.

Biden emphasizes that several steps are still needed before the Pfizer pill can become available, including regulatory approval. He points out that vaccination and a booster remain the most important tools “we have to save lives”.

But if the pills are approved and become widely available, it will be a significant step forward on our way out of the pandemic, Biden said in a statement.
