US Passes 50 Million Corona Infections Limit

More than 50 million people have been infected in the United States since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, according to data from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

To date, nearly 800,000 Americans have died from the effects of a Covid-19 infection.

About 330 million people live in the US. At the beginning of September, the limit of 40 million cases was exceeded; the number of corona deaths was then 650,000. The Johns Hopkins website is regularly updated and usually shows slightly higher numbers than the official figures from the US health authority CDC.

It reported on Sunday that 49.7 million infections had been registered. Every day, that number grows by about 120,000 new cases. According to the CDC, an average of 1,100 Americans die each day from the virus.

Experts assume that the true number of infections in the US is likely much higher than 50 million. The CDC estimates that it should be around 147 million. So even when it comes to the death toll, it is probably a lot higher than is currently registered.
