Israeli Government Websites Shut Down by Hackers

A cyber attack hit a number of government websites in Israel on Monday.

 

The websites of the Ministries of the Interior, Health, Justice and Welfare, among others, went offline, as well as those of the Prime Minister’s Office, Israeli media reported.

Everything would now work again.

The Israeli Ministry of Communications spoke of a “broad cyber attack”. However, it was not said who was responsible for this.

A defence source told the Haaretz newspaper that this is the most significant cyberattack ever carried out against Israel. It is suspected that a state or large organization is behind the attack.
