Last Indictment Against Former Governor Cuomo Also Dismissed

The latest of five criminal investigations into sexual harassment and assault by former New York governor Andrew Cuomo was closed by the prosecution on Monday. This is because there would be insufficient evidence to prosecute Cuomo.

In a statement, District Attorney Gregory S. Oakes of New York’s Oswego County emphasized that his decision is not passing judgment on Virginia Limmiatis, the woman who filed charges against the former governor, “or how harmful what she has done.” been through for her”. The woman claimed that Cuomo grabbed her chest during a meeting in 2017.

New York Attorney General Letitia James released a report in August last year finding that Cuomo had sexually assaulted 11 women, including former staffers. The investigation cost him his job. Cuomo has consistently denied the allegations and for a long time refused to resign.

Several other cases against Cuomo were previously dismissed. Prosecutors concluded that while they believe the women accusing him of being credible, there is not enough criminal ground to prosecute.
