Man Removed from Waiting List for Heart Transplant Because He is Not Vaccinated

A 31-year-old American has been removed from the waiting list for a heart transplant for refusing a corona vaccine. Local media report this. “It’s against his principles,” his father responds.

DJ Ferguson, a 31-year-old father of two and a third on the way, is currently fighting for his life in a Boston hospital. He was normally the first on the waiting list to get a new heart, but he was removed from that list by the hospital because he was not vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“It’s against his principles; he doesn’t believe in it,” his father David Ferguson told The New York Post.

According to the hospital Brigham and Women’s Hospital, research has shown that transplant recipients have a much higher risk of dying from Covid-19. “And we do everything we can to ensure that a patient who receives an organ has the best possible chance of survival,” said a hospital spokesperson.

“Patients who have not been vaccinated against corona are therefore removed from the waiting list. That policy is consistent with many other transplant programs in the US.”
