Since the war started, the Russian military has destroyed hundreds of hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address to a medical charity group on Thursday.
“If you look only at the medical infrastructure, Russian troops have already destroyed or damaged almost 400 health care facilities: hospitals, maternity wards, outpatient clinics,” Zelensky said.
As a result, doctors often run out of drugs to tackle cancer, for example, and they can’t perform necessary surgeries, Zelenski said. There is even a lack of insulin and basic antibiotics in many places in eastern and southern Ukraine, where there is the hardest fighting.
The Kremlin says it is only targeting military or strategic locations in Ukraine.
