Elon Musk Unveils Tesla Bot That Should Take Over Boring Work
Car manufacturer Tesla is expected to develop a humanoid robot that can take over various tasks that people don’t feel like boring or even dangerous. That said Tesla CEO Elon Musk during the so-called AI event of the company.
A prototype of the Tesla Bot is due to be launched next year.
Musk said at the meeting that the Tesla Bot, which is about six feet in length, should be able to take over various tasks, such as fastening bolts to cars with wrenches or picking up groceries from the store. According to the billionaire, the robot will be able to radically change the economy, especially because the Tesla Bot can address the shortage of labour. But, according to Musk, the machine mustn’t become “super expensive”.
Tesla’s AI event was held at a time when the security of Tesla technology has been widely criticized. This mainly concerns the autopilot system in the cars of the group. However, musk did not respond to that criticism. Instead, he said he is confident that self-driving cars will eventually be safer than the cars that are already driving on the road with all kinds of aids such as cameras and computers, but for which the driver is responsible.
US safety regulators opened an investigation into Tesla’s driver assistance system earlier this week over a series of collisions involving the cars. The pressure on the autopilot system of the automaker is also increasing from politics. Several senators want the Fair Trade Commission to investigate Tesla’s autonomous driving system.
