Trump Appoints New Lawyers for Impeachment Trial

Former US President Donald Trump appointed two new lawyers on Sunday to assist him during the impeachment trial, his office announced Sunday. These are David Schoen and Bruce L. Castor.

Two members of Trump’s lawyer team, Butch Bowers and Deborah Barberi resigned “by agreement” on Saturday.

According to CNN, his entire team later resigned. The former president would have insisted that electoral fraud should be part of his defence, but the lawyers did not see it.

The impeachment process against Trump will begin in the Senate the week of February 8.

The impeachment procedure is initiated for inciting violence and uprising. The Republican is said to have provoked the storming of the Capitol on January 6.

With the procedure, the Democrats hope to prevent Trump from running for re-election in the US presidential election in four years’ time.
