US media such as CNN reported that Moscow had decided to expel several diplomats from Russia on Wednesday. However, it is not clear how many people are involved.
A spokesman for the US Department of Justice calls it a “useless and unproductive action” and currently calls diplomacy “critical”.
At the beginning of this month, 12 Russian UN diplomats had to leave the United States over national security concerns. They were charged with espionage and were “deported for abusing their residency rights”.
The Russian ambassador to the US at the time spoke of “a hostile action against our country”.
