Facebook Made $9.2 Billion Profit in Three Months

In the third quarter, from July 1 to September 30, Facebook made a profit of 9.2 billion dollars. That is 17 percent more than a year earlier. However, turnover rose by 35 percent to 29 billion dollars, slightly less than analysts had expected.

Facebook says the daily number of users active on its social networks (Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp) has risen to 2.81 billion. At the end of June, there were 2.76 billion.

Facebook was able to take advantage of the corona lockdowns in the past year: people were forced to make digital contact with others more often. This has not gone unnoticed by advertisers. The company earned $28.3 billion from advertising in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the company expects to generate revenues of $31.5 to $34 billion. That is less than analysts expected. They thought of $34.8 billion.

Apple’s decision to give users of its operating system more control over how their data is collected, among other things, brings “significant uncertainty,” Facebook says. The corona crisis is also an uncertain factor.
