Many New Infections in the US, Fewer Daily Deaths

The United States has again registered a significant increase in the number of coronavirus infections.

 

According to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, at least 42,000 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.

The new infections are mainly found in the southern and western states of the US, such as Texas and California.

The total number of infections has risen to almost 2.6 million. The daily death rate from Covid-19 continues to decline.

In the past 24 hours, 355 deaths were recorded. In total, just over 126,000 people died from lung disease.

Multiple governors of states where the coronavirus has spread rapidly have reversed and announced closings of cafes and restaurants.
